Women Writers’ Fest round-up by Carol Brinson

This lively event was held on 20th June in the splendour of Chichester’s Assembly Rooms. Part of the Festival of Chichester, it was organised by the Chichester Women’s History Group (CWHG).

The Chichester Women's History Group exists because one woman asked a question and refused to stop asking it. We think that's rather fitting.

One day, six brilliant women — and you choose how much of it you enjoy. You're not tied to the whole day: come for a couple of talks or stay from morning to evening, it's entirely up to you. At £35 including refreshments it's wonderful value — and every ticket helps fund

History has a habit of overlooking women's contributions — and that's exactly why our talks programme exists. Each year, the Chichester Women's History Group brings together speakers who are uncovering, restoring and celebrating the stories of women who shaped our world but were too often written out of it.

The streets of Chichester gained three new blue plaques — each one honouring a woman whose story has helped shape the city across the centuries. It was, as our founder Francesca Tambling put it, "a day to remember."
