Women of Courage

  • Assembly Rooms (The Council House) 80 North Street Chichester, PO19 1LQ UK (map)

About the Talk

Between 1941 and 1944, the Special Operations Executive sent around 470 agents into France — 39 of them women. RAF Tangmere, just outside Chichester, served as a forward base for clandestine air operations, infiltrating and exfiltrating agents, Resistance leaders and political figures. In this talk, Sheryl Green reveals the stories of some of the remarkable women involved in this top secret work — from SOE agents and a major figure in the French Resistance to those in vital support roles closer to home.

Part of a series of three talks about ‘Women of Courage’ Stories from RAF Tangmere.
